Molly wanted to focus on automatism and the process of making art without conscious or rational thought. This exploration of unconscious creativity allows her to work more freely and experiment with medium, composition and other factors in any art piece. 
 
She was mainly influenced by the ideas behind the surrealist art movement, exploring the unconscious creativity by using techniques like automatic processes to produce work. Since she is most comfortable with facial features, it seemed the most natural focusing point from which to create work without thinking.
